Hoang Tran has been a part of Subrosa since the early talks about creating the brand in the first place. Before we announced Subrosa to the world we knew Hoang would be a part of the crew. We launched his first pro model Villicus frame in the Spring of 2010. Take a look a brief history at the Villicus, a Q&A with Hoang, and tons of details and spec on his new Villicus Infinity frame.
The final installment of Hoang Tran’s Villicus frame is arriving in stores around the world as I type this. It’s been a staple in the Subrosa line for a little over 6 years now. The Villicus gone through 5 different versions over the years including the original Villicus, Villicus V2, Villicus Prime, Villicus Prime II and now the Villicus Infinity. With each version has come minor changes to the original geometry to evolve with Hoang’s riding style and to stay current with his fans, and fans of Subrosa.
Let’s here from the man himself in this quick Q&A, and check out the spec of the all new Villicus Infinity below.
The Villicus Infinity will be arriving in shops and mail orders worldwide now and over the next few weeks.
The Villicus line has been a staple of Subrosa for some time now. The Villicus Infinity is the 5th version of your frame! How do you feel about the latest offering?
I am stoked on the latest version! As always the frame evolves and somehow comes out better than the last. Even though this is the 5th version it is still a dream come true and at times still unbelievable to have an opportunity to have a signature frame that is this dialed.
The Villicus Infinity has a unique name. Could you explain why it?s dubbed the Infinity?
I love sci-fi art and the whole mystery behind the universe because its so vast and old. So infinity in this case to me is more something that is ever expanding and growing like the universe. It is also the last version and Subrosa wanted the name Villicus to go on forever.
You?ve been running the Cosmic Red Villicus Infinity for a while now, and it looks pretty damn amazing! How does it ride?
Thats the best thing about Subrosa’s! Not only do they look amazing but they function like a finely tuned beast. No matter the amount of abuse i give this bike it still rides true.
How did the graphics come about?
It is awesome how we get to have a heavy influence on the frame. It’s weird to me when someone is getting their own signature frame and doesn’t care whats on it. The process basically starts by me giving Jason at Sparky’s the things that I’m into at the time and pretty basic ideas of what I would like to see on the frame then he uses his mad scientist wizard skills to brew up some crazy tripadellic potion of radness and a couple of emails later we have a rad piece of art on a bmx frame.
Any words for your fans?
Keep doing what you love, have fun, and keep shredding! Thanks for everything brother!
