Coming hot in July are the all new Simone Barraco signature Noster Forks! Here?s your first look at all the details and spec of the fork, and what we?ve changed up from the Battle Fork.
Forks are a very interesting component to design because there are so many important factors involved. For example they need to be strong, but they also need to be light. You could just over build them with extra thick tubing, but then they will be too heavy and make the front of you bike off balance.
The dropouts need to fit a variety of different pegs sizes. Companies offer big versions, little versions, metal, and plastic pegs, all of which are different sizes.
All that brings us to geometry. Different offset of the dropouts make your bike handle differently. Too steep and your steering will be very twitchy, and at high speed that can be bad. Too mellow would make from end tricks like nose manuals super difficult.
Working with Simone on this fork has created an amazing product with all the function a rider needs. Simone wanted a slightly steeper front end set up so the shortened the offset to 27mm. Our Battle Forks were 30mm, so this will give you more responsive steering, and a little help with front end tricks and balance. Using our knowledge of materials, market research, and working together with our factories has allowed us to create the Subrosa?s lightest and strongest fork yet, and we back that up with a lifetime warranty!
Features of the Noster Fork include a new steer tube process with a welded in lug for the compression cap. Threading the inside of the steer tube directly can, in some situations, create a breaking point, which is avoided all together by welding in a threaded washer. Tapered and butted fork legs end in an investment cast dropout, with a unique design that increases stiffness, strength and peg clearance. Using our Death Proof Heat Treating process, we were able to get the forks down to 31.8oz (900 grams)
Simone has been running these forks for a while now and so has Subrosa pro riders Kyle Hart and Matt Ray, and also Disaster Squad member Matt P. so you know they?ve been through all types of real world testing to go along with our machine testing, and these pass on all levels.
The Noster Fork will be available worldwide in July in Black and Chrome.
