For 2017 Simone wanted to change a few things up on his signature Noster frame. Since one of the biggest changes is that we shortened up the rear end length, we’ve dubbed it the Noster S. Check out all the changes and the new spec now!
The Noster S is the forth version of Simone’s frame so we felt that the change in spec was needed. With Simone’s riding always evolving, he’s constantly trying to improve the way his bike performs so when he mentioned his ideas, we were happy to accommodate them.
At Subrosa, when a rider gets a signature frame they have a ton of input on the specs, details, graphics and even color. That mean’s that the first version of their frame is exactly what they want to ride. As riders, and riding styles evolve there is typically small revisions that riders want to update their frames with, and that’s just what we did between the Noster III to the new Noster S.
First up we wanted to shorten the rear end spec. The Noster III was sitting at 13.75″ but we shorted that up to sit centered in the rear dropouts at 13.55″ or 13.35″ with the axle fully slammed in the dropouts. A nice length for the rear end that will make the frame more responsive, but not feeling too short and twitchy.
The Noster III was a completely brakeless model, meaning, no brake mounts at all. While most riders are brakeless at the moment, there are a ton of riders that love using brakes. No mounts creates a smooth clean look, but there’s no way to mount U-Brakes to the frame, so for the Noster S we added the mounts back on.
The Noster S also has a new seat stay bridge. The is a smooth, curved 5mm thick plate that adds to the side to side strength of the frame and also improves braking performance. While the rear end of the frame is shorter, we kept it wide, so even with your wheel fully slammed you will still have clearance for any size tire.
Simone ran a ton of stickers on his down tube last year, and loved the look, and Subrosa Graphics Artist Jason nailed the same look with Subrosa logos and a ton of Simone influenced pieces hidden in this giant frame sticker bomb. Simone also wanted to go back to Satin White that Subrosa used to make, and it looks so good! Simone is currently running the White version, and we’ll have a full bike check up on the site shortly.
The Noster S is arriving in stores worldwide throughout March and will be landing at Sparkys Distribution on March 15!
