Zine Modest Mouse: The Lonesome Crowded West

Sit back and invest some time into this one. I know it’s not BMX related but I’ll explain the tie in further in the post. Pitchfork and Vans have teamed up and released a series called “Classic” where they interview a band about a particular album or time period in their history. This on is on Modest Mouse’s The Lonesome Crowded West. It’s a great album, and you should become familiar with it if you’re not already. Either way, about 10 years or so ago, I would go on many many Kink trips with Jim Cielencki and Rob Tibbs and Jeff Z. would usually be the photographer. These dudes loved Modest Mouse, and me being the youngest and annoying would only want to listen to rap and whatever crappy band I was into the week. Well after I would always end up on the losing end of the radio argument and I would have to sit and sulk in the back of the van listening to The Lonesome Crowded West. Turns out that people older than me did know a little about what they were talking about. Thanks to all of them for beating Modest Mouse into my head until I liked them.
