Zine GET CLOSE TO IT: 2011 Malum Street

I was thinking that it has been a minute since I’ve done a “GET CLOSE TO IT”, so here’s another installment, this time with our 2011 Malum Street. This is actually one of my favorite bikes in the line. First off this bike features a full chromoly set up including frame, fork, bars, and cranks. We use seamless 4130 chromoly on all these parts for strength. Some companies will use seemed chromoly on there bikes and parts to reduce cost, but it also reduces strength. Seamed tubing basically means its a flat sheet of chromoly that is bent into a tube shape and welded down the middle creating the “Seam”. Some of this tubing has been know to split down the seam. So clearly we choose to avoid that. Continue below to get more info and pics on the Malum Street…

Next up is the parts package. Compact 25-9 gearing with a Subrosa forged sprocket wrapped up with a Shadow Conspiracy chain. You can notice quite a few Shadow parts like the chain, pedals, grips and tires. These are great aftermarket parts that are run by tons of pro riders on their personal rides, and you can get them right on this complete! We also have a forged Subrosa “Hold-On” stem. This is simply a stem that works and is run by most of our own pro team, and you can get the same look and feel right out of the box.
