S.T.F.U. Tour Part 2: Bellingham

by Ryan Sher ~ August 30th, 2007

The second leg of our tour was spent in or around Bellingham, Wa. This place is badass. It’s a college town, but with school out, the town was empty. The first day we got there was pretty chill. We drove up from Seattle and just explored the city by van, and by foot. We started our week long Pita Pit binge, saw Superbad, and played some pool. The next day was great. We stayed with Andrew from Defgrip, and he lives close enough to downtown that we didn’t need the van. After a short breakfast at the Co-Op, we hit the first spot of the day. For some reason the city thought it would be a good idea to build a rock wedge ramp in the middle of downtown. Well we agreed with their idea and rode it for hours. Hoang nose-wheelied across the whole street to it, Eli and Rich got tech on it, and I rode off the top of it real fast. Perfect way to start the day, that is until The Man showed up. Eli was not psyched on his new 103 dollar ticket for riding on the sidewalk, so he took his anger out on this raill with a gap to crank arm slide. Bellingham is full of characters. This guy rode around with his dog on his back, and layed down some dialed wheelies. That actually happened. We also hung out with some bums with a boom box that would only play Rob Zombie’s “1965”, and watched a hobo band play in the street, that was actually really good. This spot had some fun lines, Hoang’s second attept at a 180 railhop went better than his first. The other good thing about this spot was the security system which quietly called the cops. After she realized we weren’t trying to steal cartons of American Spirits, she let us off with a warning. Bellingham is full of weird giant trees, and Hoang loved them so much, he tried to cut this one down with his tires. On our way out of town I jumped over a chain, and then we got hastled at the boarder. That’s it for Belligham, check back for S.T.F.U. Part 3: Vancouver, to find out what this alley smells like.

S.T.F.U. Tour

by Ryan Sher ~ August 29th, 2007

Just got back from a roadtrip with the Subrosa crew. Everyone met up in Portland for the start of the trip up to Vancouver B.C. We skipped town before the Mountain Don’t Tour, and started filming right away. After I slid across the ground on my new tattoo, we started the drive to Seattle. Once we got there, Hoang and Eli got straight to business. Hoang did a badass gap through some I-beams, yes through the I-beams, and Eli even threw the bars. We hit downtown, and met up with Harrison and Andrew from Defgrip, and they showed up a nice industrial spot the Hoang gave 2 thumbs up and Rich slid for joy. It started to rain on us in Seattle, so we headed up to north. To find out if this cat ate Hoang, tune in tomorrow for the Bellingham, Wa update.

Not so “sturdy wrists”.

While the rest of Portland is getting ready for the “Don’t Tour” I’m getting reday for the arrivals of the Subrosa team for our second trip. This one will go through the Northwest and into Canada. Hoang and Eli arrive later today, then we’ll meet up with Rich and take off. Speaking of Rich, he’s got a pic of the day section, and an Iphone review on Defgrip. Check out the rest of his pics, and to read the Iphone review on The Grip. Yours truly has an interview on BMX Online about the Subrosa complete bikes. I don’t know how old this photo is, but check it out, along with the interview by Fat Tony here. The First day of the Don’t Tour has taken Gary Young and John Jennings out, both with busted up wrists, bummer.

Office space, literally.

One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life. Everything went as planned for NASA, and they should be able to come back with enough materials to build the next batch of Subrosa’s. It was a little pricey for us to send them up there, but we feel that the quality and strength of space bikes will be out of this world! Wow, that might’ve been the most corny joke I’ve ever posted. We’ve team up with whole bunch of bike companies for an art show that is gunna be real cool. I’ve been pretty busy getting ready for Interbike, so look for Subrosa to be teaming up with world renowned artist Spring Break on this project. Make sure you go through his pics, quite amazing! Thanks to Boyd for the help, and look for “Free Boyd” shirts out soon. Mike from Alabama sent us this pic, and check out Blinky’s newest ride. It may look like a familiar set up, but that’s his Trans Am and bike, add in the Harley he just baught a few weeks ago, and he should be working overtime for the next 3 years to pay for all his toys!

Sometimes things lead to Raunchy!

by Ryan Sher ~ August 7th, 2007

So, I’m still in Florida, and luckily I got a break from work when Joe and Gaz from Mutiny Bikes came to town. I guess the blurry weekend could be summed up as a mix between really awesome, and raunchy!. Mason from Ascension Tattoo hooked up my lip. As you can see I am psyched. Thanks to him, and check out this art show/ concert/ benifit they’re helping out with here and here. Sapin from France is reppin hard with his new whip, and so is Steve from Florida with this beauty.

We’re safe, Eli’s back in the U.S.A.

“Hey, Just got back from a two week Micreation excursion to Canada. Thanks to Barney at Tip Plus and the guys at Sparky’s, I had a spankin’ new bike in time for the trip. Our original plan was to make it all the way to Nova Scotia, but once on the road it quickly dawned on us that driving 25+ hours in a 12 person van packed like a sardine can would not be a ton of fun. So we changed the game plan mid stream and decided to just explore the areas of Canada a little close to home, stopping first at Niagara falls, then staying a bit with John from Ryder Distribution in Toronto. A Big thanks to him for the plush digs. We then stayed in Ottowa with Jose from Joe Mama Bike Shop, where I promptly slid my face across the pavement. It was one of those wrecks where you can’t see the ground for lack of light, and you just don’t react quickly enough. Things could have been a lot worse, so I count myself lucky to escape with some road rash. On top of that, I bruised my heel pretty badly earlier in the
day. Some days you wish you had just stayed in bed. We then spent some time in Montreal, and hit up the Sunday warehouse in Buffalo before coming home. BMX Online covered the whole thing, so hit them up for tons of relevant stuff. Big thanks to Dave J., John at Ryder, Jose, Jim C., and the Micreation team for a good time!”- Eli

Visit Woozy, and FatBMX, both spots giving you details on everything BMX, and some Subrosa mentions too. I got in these pics from Brandon at Boise Indoor Bikes and Boards in Idaho, and Ryan at J.C.‘s Bikes in Florida. Happy Birthday to our boy Trey. He shreds hard, and he’s still just 15! He send in some pics of his new bike too.

Eli has an awesome little interview over on Bmx Online, go check it out, and learn a bit about Eli’s personality off the bike. Also check out Woozy bmx. They’ve changed the site around a bit, and it’s full of new products, photos, interviews, and videos. They also put up a post about the new Subrosa complete bikes. You could easily spend an hour on the site, so take some time and look around here. I swear, any day now, I’m actually going to put up our Myspace contest. The Skeleton Crew?
